Ravi Parikh, MD, MPP, FACP, of Emory University and the Editor-in-Chief of ASCO AI in Oncology, spoke with Yan Leyfman, MD, of NewYork Presbyterian Hospital, after the 2026 ASCO Breakthrough Meeting about his poster presentation, which demonstrated the ability of an AI-powered platform aligned with the Minimal Common Oncology Data Elements (mCODE) framework for scalable, interoperable trial matching for patients with cancer. The AI-assisted infrastructure enabled faster clinical data extraction from electronic health records to overcome many of the existing barriers to enrollment into clinical trials for immunotherapeutics, supporting expanded global access.
